Kevin Dukes, superintendent of Jackson County schools in northeast Alabama, has died.
The school system announced his death on its Facebook page Wednesday morning. No cause of death was announced by the school system.
“Our Superintendent, Mr. Kevin Dukes has passed,” the school system posted on Facebook. “He was loved and will be missed by many. His passion and leadership will never be forgotten. Please keep the Jackson County School District and the Dukes family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Dukes was serving his second term as superintendent. He was first elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2020.
Dukes previously served as principal at Skyline School in Jackson County.
