HOT Temps on Tuesday / More to Come

Tuesday marked another day with exceptionally HOT temperatures across Alabama,  even for June.  Highs Tuesday were in the mid-to-upper 90’s – which is 5 – 10 degrees above average in many cases – BUT not enough to actually break any records.

We’ve listed some highs for Tuesday, and the corresponding record highs, for several major cities around Alabama on our news site at weisradio.com

Anniston: 95 degrees (record 98 in 1958)

Auburn: 93 degrees (record not available)

Birmingham: 95 degrees (record 98 in 1897)

Dothan: 97 degrees (record not available)

Huntsville: 96 degrees (record 101 in 1914)

Mobile: 98 degrees (record 102 in 1952)

Montgomery: 99 degrees (record 100 in 1963)

Muscle Shoals: 96 degrees (record 103 in 1914)

Troy: 98 degrees (record not available)

Tuscaloosa: 97 degrees (record 102 in 1963)

Rainfall and storms (some severe) helped to tone down the heat a bit in parts of east and south Alabama on Tuesday, and that could happen again today (Wednesday).

The Storm Prediction Center has a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather for a large part of Alabama today.  Those strongest storms could have damaging winds, hail, and  heavy rain.

More hot temperatures are expected across Alabama for the rest of the work week.
