Gasoline Now Averaging $4.87 a Gallon

The national average has increased to $4.87 a gallon today (Monday, June 6th); that’s according to AAA – and that’s up 25 cents over the past week, and 59 cents in the past month.

There are currently 10 states where the average price of gasoline is $5.00 a gallon or higher with the latest being Michigan – reportedly Indiana. New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts are just a few cents away.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE NATIONAL AVERAGE COULD HIT OVER $5 BEFORE THE JULY 4th HOLIDAY.

High pump prices hit the lower-income families who spend a bigger portion of their earnings on fuel, the hardest.  The average US household will spend about $450 more on an inflation-adjusted basis for gasoline this year compared with last year.
