Low-income Assistance for Rising Energy Costs

One study from 2020 shows that 16.8% of Alabamians live below the federal poverty threshold; a noticeably larger percentage than the national average of 13.1%.

Thankfully, there is help available to those in need.  The Low-Income High Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP is in place for low income families to help with this very need. The program assists low-income Alabama residents with the high cost of home energy. قمار Funding is provided from the programs block grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
