ALBERTVILLE – Neely Welsh continued to swing a hot bat in Class 2A East Central Softball Regional action in Albertville on Thursday.

She went 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple and scored both Lady Panther runs in a 2-1 victory over Winston County in the opening game for both teams.

Maggie Jarrett, Bri Boles and Layla Ingram each contributed a hit for the Lady Panthers. Abbey Steward earned the win after giving up just one run on six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

The Lady Panthers will take on Pisgah in the winners bracket this afternoon at 4:45 p.m.
