Sand Rock’s timely hits, Lady Warrior errors result in 7-5 softball win

CENTRE – The timely hit has been elusive of late for the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats, but on Tuesday at Cherokee County High School, they finally got a few to fall.

Five different Lady Wildcats doubled on the day, part of an 11-hit afternoon in a 7-5 victory that spoiled the Lady Warriors’ senior day for center fielder Carson Coley.

“We got on base and were were able to get some timely hits. la ivermectina hace daño It’s been kind of scarce for us at times,” Sand Rock coach Josh Bates said. “For us to be successful, we’ve got to have those timely hits. The girls did a good job of making contact with the ball and putting the pressure on them. That’s what it takes.”

The Lady Wildcats (22-19) also made the Lady Warriors (11-19) make the plays in the field, which proved to be a big difference as well.

“That’s what really beat us today was errors,” Cherokee County coach Brad Weaver said. “We had six, and I think they maybe had two. Those cost us three runs. It could’ve been the difference in the ball game.”

Sand Rock scored a run in the top of the first thanks to one of those Lady Warrior errors. With one out, pitcher Jadyn Foster doubled to left. She scored when third baseman EllaGrace Hood reached on an error in right.

The Lady Wildcats added two more runs to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the second on a two-run single to center by leadoff hitter Katelyn StClair. But the Lady Warriors managed to tie things up at 3 in the bottom of the third.

Back-to-back Lady Wildcat errors led to a two-run single to center off the bat of first baseman Emma Hill. Catcher Lanie Williams doubled home a run to tie the game.

Sand Rock countered by batting around and scoring three runs to regain the lead at 6-3. The big blow of the inning was a two-run single to right by Hood.

The two teams traded single runs in the bottom of the fourth and the top and bottom of the fifth before Foster slammed the door. She retired the Lady Warriors in order in the sixth and seventh for the final to earn the win.

Foster scattered two earned runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

“Jadyn pitched a really good game,” Bates said. “They’re a great hitting team. They’re aggressive. They put the ball in play. We’ve just got to keep working on our concentration, keep working our spin, and Jadyn did a good job with that tonight. kjope securo

Hood led the Lady Wildcats at the plate with three hits and three RBIs. Foster had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored two runs. StClair also had two hits, including a double, with two RBIs. Lacey Barnette doubled, singled and scored two runs. Briley Knight doubled, scored a run and drove in another. Sherina Foster doubled and walked. Lilly Clanton walked three times.

Catcher Lanie Williams led the Lady Warriors at the plate with a solo home run to left in the fifth and a run-scoring double to left in the third. Hill also had two hits, including a two-run single in the third. Coley doubled to left and scored a run in the fourth. Lea had a RBI-single to right in the fourth. Anna Walker added a hit and run. ivermectin and viruses Macy Lea finished with a hit.

Abby Lea suffered the loss after going the distance. She scattered four earned runs on 11 hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

“My goal at the end of the year is to try and play the best competition, the best people we can play,” Bates said. “That’s what’s going to make us better. We’ve got quality teams trying to get us ready for area and hopefully regional and beyond. That’s our goal.”

“We’re better than what our record shows,” Weaver said. “We’ve had a tough schedule, but I’m hoping it’s going to pay off come Friday and Saturday (in the area tournament at White Plains). We get on a hot streak, and you never know when it’s going to end.”
