District 39 State Representative Ginny Shaver once again joined host Jerry Baker, via telephone on the WEIS Radio morning show Monday morning, and as usual she had a long list of exciting information to share regarding everything that’s been going on in Montgomery.
She informed us that the session wrapped up last Thursday, with a day that stretched into a 15-hour marathon, adding that the entire session was both fast-paced and very productive, with headway being made in a large number of areas including a bill that was drafted approving benefits for first responders contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty. Those benefits had been available on a FEDERAL level but NOT in the state of Alabama until passage of this bill. There was also an increase in the tax credit for the adoption of a child, from $1,000 to $2,000; she also updated listeners on the progress of the highway 411 four-laning project between Centre and Gadsden – and good news and tax time seems like a strange combination, BUT Representative Shaver managed to successfully combine the two:
