Collinsville sweeps at Gaylesville

GAYLESVILLE – The Collinsville girls and boys swept a varsity basketball doubleheader at Gaylesville on Friday night. The Lady Panthers earned a 61-26 win, while the Panther boys claimed a 61-46 victory.

In the girls game, Tyla Tatum led the Lady Panthers with 17 points. Kayla Beene connected on three 3-pointers and had 16 points. Sophie Wills tossed in nine points. Destiny Cothran and Gracie Griggs both contributed six points. Rylee Tillery finished with five points.

Shonda Epps topped Gaylesville with 11 points. Aubrie Peek finished with eight points.

Collinsville jumped out to a 17-5 first-quarter advantage and led 39-11 at halftime. The Lady Panthers held a 57-19 edge after three quarters.

In the boys game, Colton Wills sank five treys and finished with a game-high 27 points to lead Collinsville. Alex Garcia added 13 points. Luke Henderson finished with 10 points.

Kyler Bradley connected on a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 15 points to top Gaylesville. Jacob Gordon added 13 points. Kuper Bradley came away with seven points. Hunter Penney posted six points and Collin Hendon finished with five points.

Collinsville led 20-7 at the end of the first quarter and held a 32-23 advantage at halftime. The Panthers held a 45-29 edge after three quarters.
