Cherokee County School Board Meeting January 12th, 2022

The Cherokee County School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday afternoon. 

During the that meeting the board approved the minutes from their December 16th meeting and also received for review the financial statements as of November 30th, 2021.

The Board passed two resolutions, one declaring February 2022 as Career and Technical Education Month and the other recognized school board members during School Board Member Recognition Month which is in January. 

The board also approved an agreement to join the Purchasing Association of Central Alabama in addition to approving the Energy Savings Budget for the Career & Tech Center. 

The Sand Rock Field House Ceiling Project was declared a public works project. 

Superintendent Welsh gave a brief update on the latest COVID numbers system wide and said that there is currently NO campus that has met the ten percent threshold and that they are continuously monitoring the numbers. The average percentage of quarantine is 2.5%. When the ten percent threshold is met at any particular campus, a mask mandate will be put in place at that school. Welsh said that there are currently 153 quarantines system wide with approximately 56 positive cases. He stated that most everyone currently in quarantine is set to return by next Tuesday.
