Third-quarter surge lifts Skyline boys past Cedar Bluff, 59-48

SCOTTSBORO – Bucky Leek sank three 3-pointers and finished with 24 points, but they weren’t enough o lead the Cedar Bluff Tigers past Skyline in Class 1A, Area 13 boys basketball action on Tuesday. The Tigers lost by the final of 59-48.

Weston Avans led the Vikings with a game-high 33 points, including a 13-of-17 performance from the free-throw line. Bryant Kennamer added 11 points, including three treys. Will Avans finished with five points.

MJ Adams and Connor Flynt netted nine and seven points for the Tigers.

Skyline led 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Cedar Bluff forged out to a 28-24 halftime advantage. A 19-3 third-quarter run by the Vikings gave them a 43-31 edge heading into the final quarter.

In girls action, Skyline earned a 64-10 victory behind 11 3-pointers. Kaina King led the Lady Vikings with 14 points, including a pair of treys. Blakely Stucky rang for 13 points. Audra Bellomy finished with nine points on three treys.

Cedar Bluff hosts Valley Head on Friday.
