Waste Management Officials Explain Billing Errors To The Cherokee County Commission

Mike Mitchell with Waste Management visited with the Cherokee County Commission today(Monday) to explain about the billing error which occurred with Waste Management Customers in Cherokee County.

During the most recent billing, many customers received bills for an increased amount which County Commission Chairman issued a public statement informing the public about the error.

Mitchell said this occurred when the Customer Files from the previous company were imported into the Waste Management system. He told the commission the next step would be to identify those who received the increased bills and be sure everyone received the proper credit. Mitchell told the Commission his firm was working on that now.

He said everything should be back to normal with the next billing cycle. There could also be issues with service due to several employees with the company having contracted COVID with 8 drivers being out sick during the past week and members of management having to run the routes.

Mitchell apologized to the Commission about the problems but assured them Waste Management is working to correct all issues.
