A Marshall County man has been seriously injured in Kentucky – after traveling there in an effort to assist victims of the recent storms that left much of the area in ruins.
Steve Harper of Arab, along with a friend, loaded up with water and generators – and left almost immediately – headed to Mayfield and Murray, Kentucky. The two helped families in those locations for several hours on Saturday when a family member back home received a phone call around 6:30 that evening, saying they had been involved in a serious accident.
The collision occurred on Highway 80 and 641 just North of Murray, Kentucky where the red light wasn’t working due to power outages; according to reports, Walker and his friend were crossing the intersection before they realized it, and their vehicle hit another vehicle. Harper was airlifted from the scene to TriStar Skyline Hospital with a broken arm and head injuries. He’s currently in the trauma ICU on a ventilator and has undergone surgery.
His friend suffered minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.
