CEDAR BLUFF – Cedar Bluff senior quarterback Jacob Burleson had a hand in four touchdowns (2 passing, 2 rushing) in leading the Tigers to a 54-12 Class 1A, Region 7 football win over Woodville on homecoming.
The win evened Cedar Bluff’s record to 3-3 overall and 3-0 in the region. It also improved the Tigers’ record to 14-0 all-time against Woodville (0-7, 0-4).
Bucky Leek scored on a 56-yard run on the first play from scrimmage. Nick Clifton’s extra point made it 7-0 Tigers.
Clifton added a 39-yard touchdown run, followed by Burleson’s 4-yard score for a 20-0 Tiger lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Panthers finally got on the scoreboard in the second quarter on Sam Peek’s 1-yard touchdown run. The 2-point try was no good, keeping the score at 20-6.
Burleson scored again on a 6-yard run, and the ensuing extra point gave Cedar Bluff a 27-6 advantage.
Peek later added a 5-yard run to make the score 27-12 at halftime.
A Burleson-to-Leek 46-yard touchdown connection opened the third-quarter scoring. The two hooked up again on a 78-yard scoring strike to make it 41-12. Preston Burt added a 7-yard touchdown run to give Cedar Bluff a 47-12 edge after three quarters.
Clifton scored his second touchdown of the night on a 17-yard run for the final.
Cedar Bluff hosts rival Gaylesville on Friday.
