COVID has claimed the life of a northwest Georgia school student.
According to Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, the victim, a 13 year old boy, tested positive for the virus a week ago. He was found, not breathing, at his residence early Tuesday morning. An EMS unit transported him to a nearby emergency room where he was pronounced dead at 5:55am.
Proctor said the cause of death was respiratory failure due to COVID-19. The teen was a student at Coosa School.
