The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “Flood Warning” – for East Central Cherokee County in northeastern Alabama.

* Until 6:30pm (CDT) Friday

* At 5:32am (CDT) – reporting gauges indicate elevated levels along the Coosa River above Weiss Lake – leading to lowland flooding.  Some of the locations experiencing flooding will include – Centre, Cedar Bluff, Eastern Weiss Lake, Howell’s Crossroads and Waterhouse.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTION

“Turn around, don’t drown,” when encountering flooded roads.  

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
