Officers continued to Vigo Road where the vehicle turned into a driveway behind a home and officers pursued them into a corn field where after several minutes officers temporarily lost sight of them and they exited the field and crashed into a ditch while trying to get back into the road.

The driver left the vehicle on foot and could not be located. Piedmont Police contacted a Calhoun County tracking K-9 but were not successful.
