Cherokee County EMA Scales Back Frequency of COVID-19 News Conferences; Latest Report from ADPH on Local Cases

The latest update on the COVID-19 Data & Surveillance Dashboard – issued by the Alabama Department of Public Health – indicates that thus far, Cherokee County has had a total of 42 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and two cases labeled “probable””.

According to ADPH data, the county has had four confirmed deaths due to COVID-19.   Over the previous 14 days a total of nine positive results have been returned out of the 215 tests that have been administered in the county,

Statewide, the cumulative number of confirmed Coronavirus cases has reached 21,626 with 739 deaths being attributed to the illness – meanwhile, the number of presumed recoveries currently stands at 13,508.

According to a statement issued by the Cherokee County EMA “…as we transition from the response to the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency has made the decision to hold our news conferences on an ‘as needed basis’ rather than weekly.”
