Number of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases in Alabama Jumps to 15,650; 580 Deaths Related to Illness So Far According to ADPH

The number of confirmed COVD-19 cases across Alabama crashed through the 15,000 mark with a huge jump from Tuesday to Wednesday morning with those latest numbers from the Alabama Department of Public Health now reporting a total of 15,650 – with 580 confirmed deaths due to the illness thus far.

The number of presumed recoveries is listed on the ADPH COVID-19 Surveillance and Data Dashboard as being 7,951.

  At this point 1,689 hospitalizations have occurred in connection with coronavirus.

Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers reports that Cherokee County has had a total of 35 confirmed cases, however only five of those remain “active” at this point, and 26 cases have recovered OR are no longer considered infectious.

The ADPH is currently listing a total of 867 residents of the county as having been tested.

By comparison neighboring counties are posting MUCH higher numbers – DeKalb County is at 234 confirmed cases with 1,741 people being tested; Etowah County has 240 cases, after a total of 3,992 residents being tested; and, Calhoun County has logged 150 positive results, following 3,316 tests being given there.
