WEIS Radio News spoke with Cherokee County Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice Wednesday morning about the School Feeding Program, and he advised us that school meal pick-up for Cherokee County school children will take place from 10:00 – 11:00am on each Wednesday (while supplies last).
Child Nutrition Program Director Christina Lee tells us more:
These meals are being offered through the Cherokee County Schools in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) are providing meals at no charge for children 18 years of age and younger.
Children do not have to be students at a school within our system to participate in this program. Select regulations are USDA requirements and they must be followed in order for our system to participate in this program and to offer meals at no charge to anyone 18 and under or those who are currently enrolled in a K-12 school.
Meals will be picked up at the entrance to the school or building in a drive-thru fashion. If you have no available transportation, delivery may be an option.
Please make CNP Staff aware of any allergies your children have.
Please direct any questions you may have about the feeding program to Christina Lee, Child Nutrition Program Director for Cherokee County Schools. She may be reached at 256-927-3397 or at clee@cherokeek12.org.
