ADPH Says Some 2,500 of Alabama’s Coronavirus Patients No Longer Show Symptoms

Almost 2,500 of Alabama’s coronavirus patients no longer show symptoms according to the officials with the Alabama Department of Health.

The ADPH does not use the term “recovered” when referring to COVID-19 patients, due to a lack of uniform definition. It does, however, review information on those who are not showing symptoms. As of May 4th – 2,498 people fell into the category.

Symptoms of coronavirus include – a fever, cough and shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and a new loss of taste or smell.

Alabama has reported 8,437 cases of coronavirus with 315 deaths.  According to the ADPH, 1,083 patients required hospitalization – 420 in intensive care units and 249 on mechanical ventilation.  Of Alabama’s infections, 1,181 have been among healthcare workers and 1,349 are either residents or workers of long-term care facilities such as nursing homes.

Twenty-five percent of Alabama’s coronavirus cases have occurred in those older than 65.
