Gadsden Police say a man struck by an 18 wheeler on Thursday remains in the hospital in stable condition.
Sgt. William Johnson said that officers responded to the scene just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon to the intersection of West Meighan Blvd. (US 431) and North 3rd Street to a report of a traffic collision.
30 year old Jeffery Michael McDowell was apparently struck by a semi-truck with trailer attached. McDowell was rushed to Gadsden Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery.
Sgt. Johnson said that McDowell remains in stable condition in Intensive Care.
The Gadsden Police Departments Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
