Albertville Police Officer Hospitalized After Being Involved in A Collision On Highway 431 On Thursday

An Albertville police officer is in Huntsville Hospital on a “precautionary stay” after a collision on U.S. Highway 431 Thursday morning.

Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith confirmed that just before 6 a.m., an officer was involved in a car wreck on U.S. 431.

Chief Smith said that the officer was traveling south on Highway 431 in the left lane, when another vehicle attempted to change lanes and clipped the front of his police Tahoe. In an attempt to avoid the collision, the officer dodged to the left and got into the median where he lost control in the grass. His momentum carried him across the northbound lanes and off the outside shoulder of the roadway where his vehicle flipped down an embankment and came to rest on its roof in a creek.

Smith said that the officer was transported to Huntsville Hospital for his injuries, which as of Thursday evening, were “not believed to be serious.”

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident.
