Jacksonville City Schools will soon be searching for a new person to lead the school district. According to the Jacksonville Board of Education, Mark Petersen has resigned from his position as Superintendent.
Petersen served as the superintendent for four years. Director of Operations for the school system, Mike Newell, will serve as acting superintendent until a permanent replacement is found.
