What began as a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation on Shorter Avenue in Rome ended with the arrest of a Cherokee County man on multiple charges.
According to records at the Floyd County Jail, Taz Allen Cox, age 26 of Centre, was arrested because he had a valid warrant for his arrest in Alabama. After the Rome Police K-9 did what’s called a “free air sniff” – suspected methamphetamine, a syringe and a firearm were located in the vehicle. Cox stands charged with being a fugitive from justice, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.
