According to Rome Police reports – a white male entered the Synovus bank branch located on Shorter Avenue in West Rome shortly before 3:00pm Tuesday, and took around $1,000 before fleeing on foot. Rome Police Assistant Chief Debbie Burnett said the suspect, wearing a blue sweatshirt and believed to be in his early 30’s – robbed the bank and left in the direction of North Hughes Street towards the Boys and Girls Club.
Bank officials said there was no weapon visible during the robbery and no one was injured.
Detectives and a K-9 unit were dispatched to the scene immediately however as of Tuesday evening the suspect has not been located.
