Officials are investigating after a crash Friday morning left one person dead.

The incident happened around 5:40 a.m., according to Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge. The chief said the crash happened on U.S. Highway 78 and Carterton Heights.

The department’s traffic homicide is investigating. The chief asked motorists to stay away from the area while crews are on the scene.
