The Mt. Weisner Fire Department has received some much needed funding to help offset the costs of equipment and also a paving project at the fire station on County Road 71.

State Senator Andrew Jones along with RC&D Executive Director Heidi Richards were on hand on Saturday afternoon to make that presentation. $7,000 will go toward providing personnel with necessary protection and communication equipment and in FY2019 they received a $10,000 Community Development Grant to pave the parking lot. In times of heavy rainfall, the fire department was dealing with situations where the larger trucks were getting stuck greatly effecting response times.

Heidi Richards thanked State Legislators for their support of the program and for making available the necessary monies to fund these types of projects all across the state

The Ballplay Bend Fire Department in Etowah County also recently received $10,000  for the purchase of LUCAS compression devices which allows for CPR to continue while a patient is being moved.
