Fort Payne Man Charged With Arson In Connection To A Structure Fire Occurring Back In April

A Fort Payne man has been charged with Arson in connection to a house fire that occurred at a residence in Fort Payne.

Fort Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum said that his department received the report of a structure fire at approximately 8:21 p.m. on the evening of April 8th.

Detective Andy Hairston says that Officers from Fort Payne Police Department and Fort Payne Fire Department arrived on scene of the fire at a home at 1152 Godfrey Ave S to find the back-porch area ablaze. 

An investigation into the fire was initiated by Fort Payne Fire Marshall Stacy Smith and other fire personnel.

On May 9th, 45 year old Allen Tyrone Bailey was arrested on a Warrant and charged with Arson in the 1st Degree.

This warrant was served on Mr. Bailey while he was incarcerated in the DeKalb County Detention Center on other non-related charges. 

Bond is set for Mr. Bailey at $200,000.  Detective Hairston and Fire Marshall Smith reported the investigation is still ongoing.
