The Centre City Council approved the purchase of an additional pumper for the fire department during their regular meeting on Tuesday. The vehicle is a 1500/1000 Rural Pumper (pictured above) and was purchased at a cost of $73,000. The vehicle will delivered for use is approximately two weeks. The council approved an amendment to the city budget to reflect the purchase of the vehicle.

In other business, the council approved a lease agreement with Pro-Health for use of the former Police Department building on East Main Street and an agreement with the So-Cool Summer program to use the Armory Building for their summer activities. A motion was approved to move Dewey Reynolds from Grade 2 to Grade in accordance with the city’s step raise policy.

Representatives with Theatre Centre were also in attendance to speak with council members about the possibility of financial support from the city, Mayor Tony Wilkie said that the council would take the matter under advisement and will be further looking into the matter and will do whatever they can to support the organization.

The council also approved an amount of $2.99 to reflect the correct cost of GPS devices approved for purchase for the police department at the previous meeting. The council previously approved a total cost of $390.00 but the actual cost was $392.99.

Also approved was a motion to allow Donna Young to continue water aerobics classes at the Centre City Pool. Additionally, the council approved a request for $2,300 to re-stripe the parking lot at the softball complex.

The Centre City Council meets of the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. following a work session at 4:00 p.m. those meetings are open to the public.
