Several Arrested On Drug Charges After Meth And Other Paraphernalia Is Discovered During A Search Warrant

At approximately 10:30 pm, on the night of January 15th, DeKalb County Drug Task Force agents along with the Fort Payne Police Department executed a search warrant located at 708 Grand Avenue NW in Fort Payne.

Verlon Deaver Jr. (64 of Chattanooga, TN), Perry White (59 of Fort Payne), Verna Campbell (44 of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee), and Steven Caneer (39 of Fort Payne) were detained on scene. After the search of the residence was complete, Methamphetamine was discovered, as well as assorted paraphernalia.

Deaver was charged with a Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Loitering in a Drug House.

White, Campbell, and Canner were all charged with Loitering in a Drug House.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the arrests: “It is great to see our Drug Task Force agents working hard and getting this poison off our streets and away from our children.”
