Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the indictment and arrest of the former clerk of the Town of Pisgah in Jackson County, Alabama, on three felonies: two counts of theft of property in the first degree and one count of intentional use of official position or office for personal gain, an Ethics Law violation.

Jennifer Lynne Hall, 43, of Pisgah, surrendered to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on June 21 and was later released on an $11,000 bond.

The charges arise from Hall’s former position as the clerk of the Town of Pisgah. Attorney General Marshall’s Special Prosecutions Division presented evidence to a Jackson County grand jury that resulted in Hall’s indictment on June 13.

Specifically, the indictment charges Hall with theft of “unearned money from the Town of Pisgah payroll;” a separate count of theft of U.S. currency, checks, or other funds that occurred from November 2011 to June 2017; and with using her official position or office for personal gain. 

The indictment does not specify the amount of theft other than that it is first-degree, which is defined as theft of more than $2,500.

No further information about the investigation or about Hall’s alleged crimes other than that stated in the indictment may be released at this time.

If convicted, Hall faces a maximum penalty of two to 20 years for each of the three charges, all of which are Class B felonies.
