The Blood Assurance blood drive held Monday at Cherokee Medical Center proved to be yet another in a series of successful donor events at the facility – with 27 units collected among which were eight first time donors.
Cherokee Medical Center has consistently drawn a significant turnout each time that Blood Assurance conducts a drive at the hospital.
In a follow up letter to CMC, Blood Assurance Donor Recruiter Felicia Christopher said “The efforts of Cherokee Medical Center have always been greatly appreciated and their support of the community blood program will go a long way toward replenishing blood supplies and ultimately saving lives. In addition, we very much appreciate your efforts during this crucial time. Thank you for your contribution and on-going support of this important community program. I look forward to working with you again…”
Monday’s drive was conducted in honor of 20 year old Morgan Bone of Sand Rock who tested positive for Type B flu that damaged her lungs and caused respiratory distress. She is currently at UAB hospital on ECMO support.
A Facebook page, “Prayers for Morgan” has been set up, which contains daily reports on her condition.
