NBC/Will HeathFollowing a new Twitter feud between President Donald Trump and Alec Baldwin over the latter’s impersonation of the President, Baldwin reprised his Trump impersonation on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.
In the show’s opening sketch, Baldwin’s Trump took on the President’s recent listening session on gun control, telling the audience, “Tonight I am here to bring you a message of healing and a show of unity.” Looking at his notes, he added, “I hear you and I care. Rent LEGO Ninjago Movie.
“Sorry, Eric scribbled some notes on there, too,” added Baldwin, referring to the President’s son.
The faux Trump also floated the idea of taking guns away from all Americans — “even whites.”
He followed by addressing the latest resignations in the Trump administration. Referring to his soon-to-be former Communications Director Hope Hicks, Baldwin said, “She’s like a daughter to me. So smart, so hot. You know, I hate seeing her go but I love watching her walk away.”
On tariffs, Baldwin’s Trump declared, “I said I was going to run this country like a business. That business is a Waffle House at 2 a.m. Crazies everywhere, staff walking out in the middle of their shift, managers taking money out of the cash register to pay off the Russian mob.”
During the Weekend Update segment, SNL’s Cecily Strong — as Hicks — compared her time at the White House to summer camp, explaining, “You make all these new friends, you barely get any sleep and then everybody leaves after eight weeks.” She bid farewell to her former colleagues by saying, “I’ll see you guys at the reunion in 10 years. Seven with good behavior.”
