Watch now: Deadpool meets Josh Brolin’s Cable in trailer for “Deadpool 2”

20th Century Fox(LOS ANGELES) — Marvel fans finally get their first glimpses of Josh Brolin in action as the metal-armed, time-traveling cyborg mutant hero Cable in the new trailer to Deadpool 2.

“People think they understand pain, but they have no concept of it,” Cable growls.

Just as in the comics, Deadpool takes his frenemy’s tortured origin story about as seriously as you’d expect. Reynolds-as-Deadpool cries foul when he notices that Brolin’s cyborg arm hasn’t been swapped out for the CG-version you see in the movie.

“Why are the visual effects not done? It’s not like we’re trying to remove a mustache!” he exclaims — the latter a jab at Warner Bros.’ digital “shaving” of Superman Henry Cavill’s Mission: Impossible ‘stache for re-shoots on Justice League

While Cable’s arm is being digitally “fixed,” Deadpool uses dolls to portray both him and Cable fighting on a cheap, cardboard doll house set, while exchanging some unprintable banter.

With Cable’s CG arm finished, the trailer resumes, with some hard-hitting shots of Deadpool/Wade Wilson fighting both in and out of his superhero suit, as well as Cable jumping a massive truck.  We also see series newcomer Zazie Beets as the heroic Domino, as well as returning cast members Brianna Hildebrand as the powerful mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Wade’s love, Vanessa, TJ Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Karan Soni as loyal taxi driver Dopinder.

Deadpool 2, or whatever it’ll ultimately be titled, hits theaters May 18.  Like its predecessor, it will be very much rated R, as the trailer proves.
