The Chestnut Bypass in Centre was shutdown for an extended period of time Saturday after an 18 wheeler hauling sheet rock overturned near Happy China around 10:30 that morning

The bypass was closed from North River Street to King Street as a wrecker removed the big rig and cleanup crews cleared away the sheet rock and debris. 

The driver, identified as a 32 year old resident of Greensboro. Alabama – Quency Edwards – was transported by Cherokee EMS to Gadsden Regional for treatment.

Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved.

It remains unclear what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle – the wreck remains under investigation by the Centre Police Department.
