Forrest Gump impersonator enchants California town

“Forrest Gump” – Getty Images/MEGA/Gamma-Rapho(LOS ANGELES) — It looks like the creepy clown thing is over. A Forrest Gump impersonator has been running around the streets of Riverside, California, spreading cheer.

KABC reports that a mysterious man, who preferred not to reveal his name, says he’s doing it to make people laugh.

The Gump said, “It doesn’t really matter who I am. I’m not doing it for me. It’s just something that took off and made the community happy, made people smile. There’s a lot of bad things going on in the world and it’s nice to take a break from it.”

Forrest Gump was the character played by Tom Hanks in the 1994 Oscar-winning film of the same name. In the movie, Gump runs across the country on a whim, eventually sporting a shaggy beard and wearing his Bubba Gump Shrimp Company baseball cap. The mysterious man in Riverside wears a similar outfit.

People often stop him to pose for photos.

Local Jessica Lopez said, “There’s so much going on right now that something like this is a nice change. I really like it.”

Run, Forrest, run!
