Mr. Don Mobbs

Mr. Don Mobbs age 70 of Centre passed away Friday October 27th at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Sunday October 29th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Hardin and Rev. David Jenkins officiating, burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 1 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include nephews, Carlton “Bubba” Teague, Adam Mobbs, Chris Mobbs, Johnathan Mobbs, Terry Mobbs, Bo Teague, Jeff Chumbler, and Matt Mobbs.

Survivors include wife, Martha Alline Brown Mobbs of Centre; son, Keith ( Jamie) Mobbs of Sand Rock; brothers, George (Beverly) Mobbs of Cedar Bluff, Robert (Melody) Mobbs of Gaylesville and Timothy (Diane) Mobbs of Gaylesville; sisters, Joanne (Larry) Teague of Gaylesville and Jane (Alpha) Chumbler of Centre; grandchildren, Seth, Haylie and Hannah Atkins; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mobbs was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Carlton and Donna Faye Slayton Mobbs and a member of Enon Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Mobbs graduated from Gaylesville High School in 1967 were he played all sports. He began his career in manufacturing in 1967 at Klopman Mills. In 1968 he went to Trend Mills and stay until closing. During this time he finished his education in business management. Don had to traveled to Dallas and stayed a year and was hired back at the plant he left which was bought by Intergrated Carpets and later by World Carpet where he spent 7 years. In 1991 he began working at Syntec where he became plant manager. Thanks to a lot of people who touched his life and paved the way for him. Special thanks to the Waters who trusted him to manage. He had a special feeling for all his time at Syntec and retired from Syntec in 2011. Don spent many years before his sickness fishing and boating on Weiss Lake with family and his son Keith, his best friend. Keith was born in 1972 and changed Don’s life forever. Being a dad was the most important thing for Don. Thanks to his nephew Tony Scarbrough who donated his kidney and gave him 8 more years of a better life. Don enjoyed attending church and doing the Lord’s work. He had many special friends at Enon Grove Baptist Church.
