Three people were arrested Tuesday in Cherokee County on drug and weapons charges.
According to information in a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, those arrests were made on Highway 411 north of Centre Tuesday afternoon, after Sergeant Gene Knowles, assisted by Investigator Jeremy Stepps stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
During the subsequent search of that vehicle, deputies quickly discovered a large amount of methamphetamine in addition to a handgun.
Jacob Coty Hill, age 28 from New Hope and Keondrick Isaiah Patterson 20 from Huntsville – were each charged with Trafficking Amphetamines, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia while 20 year old Katherine Antenor, also of Huntsville, was charged with Trafficking Amphetamines, Pistol without a Permit and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Hill, Patterson and Antenor were booked into jail between 5:30 and 6:30pm.
All three remain lodged in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
Deputies later learned that two of the suspects are currently on bond from Madison County – Patterson for Attempted Murder and Hill for Drug Trafficking.
Sheriff Shaver says the arrests were made as Sergeant Knowles was working overtime on a traffic safety grant which began October 1st.
