She has her OWN agenda: Oprah Winfrey not running for president in 2020, says rep

OWN(NEW YORK) — Don’t expect to see Oprah Winfrey in the White House anytime soon.

After the media mogul tweeted a New York Post article that said she was the “Democrats’ Best Hope for 2020,” many speculated that she was indicating her interest in throwing her hat in the ring.  But now Oprah’s team is shutting down the notion that she’s interested in being our next POTUS.

“She was just thanking the reporter, she is not running for office,” a publicist for Winfrey told The Wrap.

In the the NY Post article, columnist John Podhortez praised Oprah’s 60 Minutes segment where she moderated a debate between Michigan voters on various political sides.

Oprah responded to Podhortez’s article, retweeting the link and writing, “Thanks for your VOTE of confidence!”

This is not the first time Oprah has set off a media firestorm about the possibility of her running for president. In March 2017, Oprah told Bloomberg Television that she might have a shot.

“I never considered the question even a possibility,” said Winfrey. “That’s what I thought. I thought, ‘Oh gee, I don’t have the experience. I don’t know enough. I don’t…’ And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh. Oh.’”
