The Centre Police and Fire Department responded to Ray’s Saws on West Main Street just before 7:30 p.m. Friday night after a 9-1-1 call was made reporting several lawn mowers on fire outside the facility.
According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship it appears that a battery on one of the mowers exploded causing the fire. Chief Blankenship said that two bystanders jumped a fence and tried to put the fire out and also saved several other mowers from catching fire by pushing them out of the way. Blankenship did say the fire is being considered an accident.
