4 Year Old Airlifted To Children’s Hospital After Near Drowning At The Piedmont Aquatic Center

According to Chief Phillip Winkles with Piedmont Rescue Services a four year old boy was airlifted to Children’s Hospital after nearly drowning at the Piedmont Aquatic Center on Wednesday.

The child apparently got into water over his head and was under the water 3-4 seconds before he was pulled out safely by lifeguards.

The Piedmont Rescue Squad was contacted and responded immediately. The child never lost consciousness and no CPR was ever administered.

Chief Winkles says that the swift response by lifeguards saved the boys life.
