Town Of Cedar Bluff Set To Hold Town Christmas Parade In December

Following some brief discussion on Monday the Cedar Bluff Town Council voted to hold a Christmas Parade in the town this year. That date has been set for Monday, December 4 and will take place at 5:00 p.m. with the line up at 4:00 p.m.

Details are in the works but it appears at this time as though the parade route will be along Highway 68 and will end in the Cedar Bluff Town Park where immediately following the parade the town will have their annual lighting of the park ceremony.

The council did vote to set an alternate date of Tuesday December, 5 in the event of inclement weather. There will no entry fee for those wishing to participate.

In other business, the council received quarterly reports from Police Chief Steve Walden and Fire Department Chief Shawn Rogers.

The council has voted to amend the town sales tax ordinance to increase the town sales tax and additional half percent from 9.5 percent to 10 percent with the understanding that the money will be earmarked for street and road repairs only.

A motion to renew a DC Gas franchise tax failed to pass after council members expressed their interest in having the town’s attorney carefully look over the ordinance.

The council did go into Executive Session however no action was taken and the meeting was adjourned.
