Paint, Crappie, and Youth Softball

Mayor Brandy Pierce informed the Leesburg Town Council that the vacated doctor’s office needs painting and a thorough cleaning. He hopes the job can be completed within two weeks. The council agreed to furnish the paint and get quotes for labor costs.

The town voted to approve their sponsorship agreement with the 2027 Crappie Rodeo as well as the contract with Gaston youth softball, pending the town gets a copy of their liability insurance.

Leesburg also recognized their support for the development of the Cherokee County Regional Trail Master Plan. The initiative hopes to connect all Alabama counties with a walking trail. Mayor Pierce emphasized that this action doesn’t require any financial obligation.

In the mayor’s remarks Pierce announced that the Roberts Street Project was complete. He also reminded the gathering that the town’s trunk-or-treat is set for October 31st 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Leesburg Landing and that Christmas in the Park will be December 5th 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the fire hall.

Chief of Police Hunter Brisendine announced that the town will be hiring two positions for his department, and Councilman Joe Sonaty thanked The Gridiron whose bingo to support local fire departments raised $950 for the town.
