Crossville Woman Arrested For Stealing From Her Employer

A Crossville woman was arrested last Monday for allegedly stealing cash and other items from her employer. The Collinsville Police Department received a complaint from the owner of a gas station in Collinsville.

According to Collinsville Police Chief Gary Bowne, the owner told officers he believed an employee had been stealing from him. After reviewing the store’s surveillance footage, Collinsville Deputy Chief Rex Leath was able to determine that the employee had been stealing money and other items from the store for an extended period of time.

Police arrested Stacy Nichole Cagle, of Crossville, after they confronted her and she admitted to the theft. Leath said Cagle also admitted that she had taken the money so she could pay bills and purchase other household items.

Cagle allegedly admitted to knowing that there was a camera above the register, and she thought that since she had gotten away with it several times before that she wouldn’t get caught.

The owner of the gas station was able to show to police that she had taken more than $3,400 in cash and merchandise.

Warrants were obtained, and Cagle was charged with theft of property first degree. She was placed under arrested on Wednesday and booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center by Deputy Chief Rex Leath.

The woman was later released on a $15,000 bond.
