Universal(NEW YORK) — Split, the latest from The Sixth Sense writer/director M. Knight Shyamalan, won the weekend box office for the second straight week. The horror film, starring X-Men‘s James McAvoy, earned an estimated $26.26 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

A Dog’s Purpose, starring Dennis Quaid, and featuring the voice of Josh Gad, finished in second place. Amid controversy over a leaked video showing a frightened dog being thrown into a pool, as well as tepid reviews, the film brought in an estimated $18.38 million.

Hidden Figures, which just took home the Screen Actors Guild’s top movie honor, finished in third place, raking in $14 million, narrowly beating out Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, starring Mila Jovovich, which placed fourth with a $13.85 million haul. Hidden Figures, starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe, has now topped the $100 million mark in the U.S.

Rounding out the top five was this year’s Oscar frontrunner, La La Land, raking in an estimated $12 million, bringing its domestic total to over $100 million. It added another $23.4 million overseas, raising its worldwide total to over $223 million. 

The new Matthew McConaughey movie, Gold, debuted in a disappointing 10th place, earning just $3.57 million.
