Gadsden Police are investigating a bizarre incident, in which a patient reportedly attacked a paramedic while en route to the hospital Monday night.

According to the report just prior to 9:30pm the ambulance picked up a 33 year old man on Madison Avenue in Gadsden for transport to Gadsden Regional Medical Center; however, as soon as the ambulance was on its way to the hospital, the patient started threatening the 52 year old medic, first grabbing a stethoscope, then swinging a fist and spitting on him, before finally landing several punches to the victim’s face.

The matter remains under investigation.
