Anwar Hussein/WireImage via Getty Images(LONDON) — A new royal portrait to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday year has been released.
Photographed by British fashion photographer Nick Knight, the Queen sits in a gold chair looking directly at the camera and wearing a patterned, long-sleeve blue dress. Prince Charles stands next to her in a tuxedo and looks on at his mother with his arm on the chair.
Knight said he wanted to create a picture that showed “warmth, humanity…strength and tradition,” according to BBC.
The photograph was taken in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle in May before the last night of the Queen’s birthday celebrations at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
