New Line Cinema(HOLLYWOOD) — You’ve seen all three Hobbit movies and all three Lord of the Rings movies, but just in case you want more, here’s some good news: a biopic of J.R.R. Tolkein, the author who wrote the books those movies were based on, is in the works.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film, titled Middle Earth, will be directed by James Strong, who was behind the camera for the British TV series Broadchurch and Downton Abbey. It’s about the events that inspired Tolkien to write his iconic fantasy novels, including his experiences fighting in World War I.
The script is based on six years of interviews and research; the film will be produced by the same team who produced the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings films.
