The Cherokee County Historical Museum in Centre is inviting everyone to come out and see their new theatrical exhibit – which was officially opened to the public Wednesday morning with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
TheatreCentre’s Gary Davis was among those in attendance for that event.
On Friday/Veterans Day the museum will host another special event; the Museum Director, Kathy Marko, tells us more:
Doss receives Medal of Honor from President Harry Truman
Doss, who spent the last years of his life in Piedmont, passed away in 2006, at the age of 87.
The feature film “Hacksaw Ridge” directed by Mel Gibson and starring Andrew Garfield was released nationwide on November 4th of this year (2016).
Doss received a number of decorations and awards including the Medal of Honor; Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; Army Presidential Unit Citation and World War II Victory Medal, just to name a few.
