37 year old Derrick McCormick of Etowah County was charged with DUI after his truck hit a guardrail on Highway 431 and crashed into Lake Guntersville on Sunday.

According to reports the incident took place just after 12:30pm, when McCormick appeared to be heading into town, however for some reason he chose to take a right-hand turn on the causeway, leading to the dunking of his Dodge Ram pickup.

A nearby boater retrieved the man from the water – and he was arrested shortly thereafter by the Guntersville PD; he was then taken to the City Jail, where his bond was set at $1,000.
